Invented in 1968 Pong was the first succesful arcade video game. The Pong arcade machine became an instant success on its release in November 1972 and by March 1973, 8000 to 10000 PONG machines had been sold. It effectively created the arcade video game industry and in 1974 several home versions of the game created the home video game industry as well - everybody Ponged in the Funky 70s!
